9 Light-Hearted TV Shows and Movies for High School Girls

There are days when I just want to sit down with a bowl of chocolate ice cream and watch something that’s not too dramatic, too serious or too sad, but something that’s light-hearted and easy to watch. If it’s my lucky day, I’ll end up finding a gem but sometimes, I end up turning my laptop off in frustration, thinking that there isn’t anything good left to watch. So, I decided to compile a list of feel-good movies and TV shows that I’ve watched and adored as a sixteen-year-old girl.

The details for each title below have been taken from Netflix and if I’m not wrong, most of these are only available on Netflix. The following are not in any specific order and have been rated according to what I thought of them.

The List

Alexa and Katie > 10/10

When three teens stranded on a remote island wander into a mystical pool during a full moon, they turn into mermaids with magical powers.

(This TV show is originally in Spanish, I think, but has an English audio and subtitles). Charismatic Mia gets a scholarship to an elite performing arts school, where she makes close friends but clashes with the owner’s popular daughter.

Anne with an E > 10/10

A plucky orphan whose passions run deep finds an unlikely home with a spinster and her soft-spoken bachelor brother. Based on ‘Anne of Green Gables’. *Cue my fangirl screams because I love classic reads*

Airplane Mode > 7-8/10

When Ana, an influencer, crashes her car while talking on the phone, she’s shipped to her grumpy grandfather’s farm- and forced into a digital detox.

  2. Oooh I’ve heard of H20, just add water! I’ll add it to my netflix list! Oooh you should check out Never Have I Ever it’s such a good Netflix series!

      H2O is one of my favessss, it’s a must-watch! As for Never Have I Ever, I’ll check it out whenever I have free time lol (don’t see that happening in like a month at least smh)
