How come it’s my first time?
Honestly speaking, my family and I believe that travelling in business or first class is just a waste of money, especially since our travelling by air lasts from 2-3 hours on average. My grandparents just started travelling in business class because they’ve started finding it uncomfortable otherwise, so they’re the only exception.
Sure, the extra facilities are pleasant and the comfort level is quite ideal for a long flight but not for the opposite. Keep in mind that this is just an opinion of mine and you’re not obligated to feel the same way- though, I’d recommend giving this a thought if you’re trying to reduce spending etc.
Why do I Find it a Waste of Money for Short Flights?
- The flight’s practically over by the time I board.
- Last time I checked, I wasn’t somehow going to reach my destination faster.
- The money added to the ticket could be invested in something more beneficial than an hour or two of luxury.
How did I end up in Business Class?
My dad travels quite a lot because of business matters and because of that, he’s an Emirates gold member. We were at the airport coming back from Turkey (click here to read my 2020 Trip to Turkey series) when a lady-attendant-person (you get it) came up to my dad and told him that they had extra seats in the flight, so they upgraded his ticket to business class. Now, my dad wanted to sit with his family and my mother didn’t want to leave us either, so the ticket was going to be used by either my siblings or me. Long story short, I blackmailed my way to the ticket because I’m awesome- my sixteenth birthday was coming up and I had already pulled the ‘hey, it’s my sweet sixteen soon’ card a million times, so why not here too?
What did I do During the Flight?
This was a 4-hour long flight and I did my makeup, watched How to Train your Dragon 2, had an amazing tomato soup starter and rested- nothing extraordinary, now that I think about it. Sure, it was fun and my inner spoilt self was having the time of her life but I was kind of disappointed at the end because it really wasn’t anything more than a sprinkle of luxury. I know people who travel in the upper classes because of peer pressure, wanting to look good or their own preferences etc. and I really don’t care because that’s just not me– I didn’t enjoy feeling like I was better off than others, so I probably won’t be travelling in business class again if it’s a short flight. It was still fun though.
Anyways, thanks to the Corona Virus, it’s not like I’m travelling anytime soon *Rolls eyes*.
